In the modern world, governments need modern structures to be effective within their own community and to work with other levels of government and other Nations. We are working to re-constitute Chacachas Treaty Nation through community participation. We are working to create a strong and knowledgeable base in our membership so they will be ready and willing to take on future steps of governance.

• People – educating members, involvement through feedback and committee participation
• Leaders – personal and structural capacity development
• Community – establishing goals and ideas

Our phased in approach has the goal in the 2023 -2024 year of developing and ratifying the governance structure an Election Act, a Membership Code, and an elected Council. This is a large milestone for the community as the interim leaders were plaintiffs from out extended court decision and were court appointed. They are court recognized but have not been formally chosen by members. Leadership needs to be more formally chosen by the community to carry greater weight and have the backing to lead Chacachas through the years to come.

It is necessary for members understand, support, and participate in governance. We hope that our process of information gathering, discussions and education of members will lead to strong support for a modernized structure and a clear path for our Nation.
